Carol Creeger Photography Returns as our "Official Photographer" and she will be on hand to take your Companions Photograph right at our event! Here at The National Dachshund Races, sometimes we forget those that without any reservation or ulterior motive other than the desire to see our Charities get the most they can. They fully donate their precious time, equipment and expertise! We wish to personally thank both Carol Creeger AND the people at the House of Hindenach who have BOTH been with us pretty much from Day one (1)! Without their donated time and precious experience and equipment, we would have little money (or none) left over to give to our charities. I want to ensure that this fact is made public. In case you ever need this type of work, we strongly encourage you to use these FINE, quality oriented people and places. We know we are all hurting with today's economy, but neither said a word other than - we will be there!

 

I wish to make one further recognition and that is for H & R Electric! As we probably will never forget, we had that terrible flood two (2) years ago and the place of our event this year at LaRiche Chevrolet Cadillac is at their flooded used car lot that needed countless dollars to renovate to accommodate us. Not only was LaRiche Chevrolet Cadillac right there absorbing much of the cost, but so was H & R Electric. Without their generosity, this event may not tae place! We all forget to give thanks and praise to those that truly mean it however we are quite fast in bashing something that does not go right. In my book, all of our sponsors and these wonderful people have truly gone out of their way and made our event possible and in all likelihood, we may make it our best year and REALLY HELP our charities in their time of need!

WEINER DOG RACES (National Dachshund Races) & DOG SHOW

 

While the Prestigious National Dachshund Race has been held here over the last several years, many may not know that The National Dachshund Race is the KING of Dachshund Races. It had been held in previous years in Findlay, Ohio and is simply now KING! The winner of each years Circuit Events will race the finalist from The National Dachshund Race and then a Champion of Champions would be declared. Now we are holding this event at one location throughout the weekend so the "Top Dog" will be determined on Sunday.

 

So we say let the mud fly, (coating your Dachshund with WD-40 or other products for reducing wind resistance is not allowed!) and just pray they go straight and start when they are supposed to. Oh lets not forget the few that turn around and go back to their companion Mom or Dad. Yes this main attraction in our view is just something NOT to be missed! It is competitive yet fun and all the rules developed by Toni Gossard and honed over the years make this a safe and fun event for all to see.

 

Kids especially love the weiner dog races. There will also be a dog show, featuring a police K-9 as well as a "Best Dressed Dog" competition. The police dogs will prove their prowess at sniffing out crime. If you want, you can dress the family dog in costume and enter the competition. Your pet may never forgive you, but the pictures will be priceless!

Every year, tens of thousands of American dachshund owners enter their dogs in various competitions (click on the photo for a larger view). Extremely popular, dachshund races routinely bring horse and dog tracks a week's worth of attendance on a single night (in Buda, Texas, almost 20,000 hit the annual races). There's even a national wiener dog racing championships - the Wiener Nationals, that features racing weenie dogs from across the country.
