THE NATIONAL DACHSHUND RACES

The "Official Website" of The National Dachshund Races

We Thank You For Visiting Us for a Weekend of Fun!

In Addition To The Oktoberfest Regular Events
We Have Some VERY Special Guests & Attractions!

WEINER DOG RACES (National Dachshund Races) & DOG SHOW

While the Oktoberfest has many, many things to do while here, we cannot even remotely forget the Prestigious National Dachshund Race! While it has been held here over the last several years, many may not know that The National Dachshund Race is the KING of Dachshund Races. It had been held in previous years in Findlay, Ohio and simply outgrew that location. The winner of each years Oktoberfest would race the finalist from The National Dachshund Race and then a Champion of Champions would be declared. Now we are holding this event at one location throughout the weekend so the "Top Dog" will be determined on Monday.

So we say let the mud fly, (coating your Dachshund with WD-40 or other products for reducing wind resistance is not allowed!) and just pray they go straight and start when they are supposed to. Oh lets not forget the few that turn around and go back to their companion Mom or Dad. Yes this main attraction in our view is just something NOT to be missed! It is competitive yet fun and all the rules developed by Toni Gossard and honed over the years make this a safe and fun event for all to see.

Kids especially love the weiner dog races. There will also be a dog show, featuring a police K-9 as well as a "Best Dressed Dog" competition. The police dogs will prove their prowess at sniffing out crime. If you want, you can dress the family dog in costume and enter the competition. Your pet may never forgive you, but the pictures will be priceless!

There Is No Shortage Of Movies And Entertainment!

Highly Acclaimed DVD - Lithium Springs The Highly Acclaimed DVD - Lithium Springs will be shown during the Oktoberfest (click on the photo for a larger view)! Lithium Springs is an independent film photographed in the woods, swamps, rivers and underwater caves of Central Florida.

Family friendly (endearing itself to audience's age's 5 to 85) comedy-adventure film that tells the story of a treasure hunter and his dog Fred (a dachshund just too cute for words) in their search for the lost treasure of Ponce de Leon and the Fountain of Youth. With humor and entertainment, this movie delivers its strong message about the future of our ecosystem.

Reviews range from laugh out loud funny to whimsical, amusing, and heartfelt. It is especially fun for young children. Get your copy today and enjoy! For further information on this fine film please visit their website at http://www.lithiumsprings.com.

On a side note, we here at The National Dachshund Races consider Carter Lord the writer, director, star and creator of this fine film a friend but we must say that "FRED THE STAR" Dachshund at many times steals the show! Sorry Carter!

Hey there wiener lovers - more news from the world of Wiener Takes AllEvery year, tens of thousands of American dachshund owners enter their dogs in various competitions (click on the photo for a larger view). Extremely popular, dachshund races routinely bring horse and dog tracks a week's worth of attendance on a single night (in Buda, Texas, almost 20,000 hit the annual races). There's even a national wiener dog racing championships - the Wiener Nationals, that features racing weenie dogs from across the country.

This is the first time that it will be shown here in Ohio and stars -- you guessed it -- the National Dachshund Races. It has been sold out in all the city's it has been!

A more high profile type of Dachshund competition is the world of show doxies, where thousands of miles in travel and hundreds of thousands of dollars are required to compete for the spot of "top dog".

In the fall of 2004 documentary filmmaker Shane MacDougall decided to chronicle the surprisingly cut throat world of competitive dachshunds for two years. The result is WIENER TAKES ALL.
